59 smartphones form a large interactive display explaining the advantages of 5G technologies.

For the IFA 2017 exhibition Deutsche Telekom wanted an interactive display showing the power of 5G networks and it’s capabilities.

For this we created an interative touch screen consisting of 59 smartphones with an extreme low latency. It tries to show the ways this new technology of fast communication will change many day-to-day experiences.

Particles are generated in real-time and distributed to all devices, letting them act as one large screen while each device is actually running there own local app and constantly sharing particle and touch info wirelessly.

The system runs on 59 Samsung Galaxy devices, a custom node.js server and a particle generator created in Cinder. Particles and interfaces are rendered in a webview using Three.js.
