Robot choreography
5 Kuka robots and 3 AGVs perform a choreography while 10 migrant workers sing a requiem for human labour.
In a constantly running show several KUKA robots and AGVs move crates around on a stylized factory floor.
I was asked to create a system to control the industrial Kuka robots and AGVs so they work together, try to compensate for position offsets and drift and easy to setup in and adjust to several theatres.
The kuka robots are used in an atypical environment and needed custom controllers that operate the machines without compromising the robot (safety) mechanisms.
The robots and AGVs needed to listen en talk to the stage system for the lighting and audio to have everything come together as a single show.
The system runs a custom Node.js server that control the custom Controllino controller in the Kuka robots and the API on the AGVs. The whole system communicates with QLab to keep all devices, lighting and audio in sync.
